Seekonk was incorporated in 1812 from the western half of Rehoboth. Until 1862, the town of Seekonk also included what is now the City of East Providence, Rhode Island, as well as the section of the City of Pawtucket, Rhode Island east of the Blackstone River. The earliest known inhabitants of Seekonk were Native Americans from the Wampanoag Tribe. Martin House built c. 1799–1801 listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
